Frequently Asked Questions

  • FAQ's for business owners wanting to be part of the market

Do I need a large following to be a stall holder? Absolutely not! No matter how many followers you have you are able to trade at our markets.

I don’t have a card reader to take payments, does this matter? As long as you can take payments from customers in a secure way (ie. PayPal) then you're still able to take part, however I do recommend investing in a card reader for future events, they’re inexpensive and your customers will feel more secure paying this way if they’re not carrying cash.

I don’t have any mindful properties, can I still take part? Please visit our brand requirements section where we outline what we're looking for in terms of a mindful business. If your business does not meet our brand requirements then unfortunately you will not be considered; our ethos is to encourage conscious consumerism.

I don’t have all of the brand requirements, does this matter? Not at all! You must be a small or independent business with at least one other mindful property from our brand requirements.

Who qualifies for the free and discounted Stall Holder Positions? The minority owned business Stall Holder positions are targeted at all Ethnic Minorities. We recognise other minorities such as sexual identity, gender identity or disability however these positions are aimed at supporting ethnic minority owned businesses in order enforce our pillar of shopping inclusively and therefore to encourage our shoppers to diversify their spending and contribute towards closing the racial pay gap.

My business is less than 6 months old, am I qualified? Yes! We're here to completely support all businesses old or new in making trading at our markets and its always great to showcase new mindful businesses

I've taken part in one of your markets before, can I apply again? Yes! Please do apply again, we'd love to have you back

Do you offer payment plans for stallholder fees? Yes, we can arrange a payment plan between us, please just get in contact. And don't be shy - we're all at different stages of business and can afford different investments.

I'm a stallholder and now unable to take part in the event, do you issue refunds? Unfortunately if you’re unable to commit after confirming your place it is no longer my responsibility. Your place at the market is non-refundable and non-exchangeable for a future date*. This is in place due to the commitment to the venue, tables, chairs, marketing and all general organisation that goes into the event is already in motion for the event, and organising Stall Holders that drop out of the events is a huge task onto of the general organisation of the event.

*unless Covid-19 related, if you or someone you’ve been in contact with tests positive for Covid-19 then you may have an opportunity to postpone your market day. I will be asking for proof of a positive test in this instance.

For more information see below T’s & C’s

How do I become a stallholder? Once the date of the next market has been announced, our online applications will open. You can apply via our online application on our website. You will hear back from me via email, whether you have been successful or not. I always respond to all applicants.

I didn't get into the market, can I apply again? Yes! We have many applications, and we're so sad we can't have everyone! Please do apply again if you didn't get in first time.

I didn't get into the market - why? As you can imagine, we have many applications come through from small businesses, and therefore we can't accept them all. Whilst looking through applications I consider the mindful properties of the business, how well presented you are online in terms of photography/ Instagram presence and how overall your application was delivered.

I'm not sure which stall size to go for? If you’re new to trading at markets, have a smaller product range or smaller size products, then half a table is suitable. If you have a large product range and large display stands, we recommend a full table.

How do you select traders for your free & discounted trader positions? We believe that shopping more mindfully means to diversify your spending. If you’re a business owner and identify to be part of a marginalised community, then you qualify to apply for one of our free or discounted positions. These are issues on a first come, first served basis.

How do you curate your line-up? I ensure that all small businesses that trade at our online markets follow our brand requirements. This means that they either have sustainability at the heart of what they do or ensure it’s a main factor in their packaging and supply chain. They are a minority owned business / support minority workers in the creation of their products, enabling you to diversify your spending. They are passionate and experts in the field of mental health aids, and can provide genuine mental health and well-being products.

What does it mean to shop more mindfully? To shop more mindfully you are considering your purchase's impact before committing. This means you've shopped around more for the item you wish to purchase, making sure that it has the least harmful impact to the planet (for example). To shop more consciously, shopping at small and independent businesses is a great way to start, as in their nature they're less likely to be mass producing or unethically working.
